Contents The following list of 19th century Hessian emigrants is an ongoing project of Schroeder & Fuelling GbR, a professional genealogical partnership located in Germany. The file you are currently looking at will be revised and enlarged by future uploads. It gives information about surnames, christian names, birthdates (if available), year and destination of emigration (if available), and even some additional notes about the emigrant or his/her immediate family. What is not shown here is the place of origin of the emigrant and the source of this information, as this information is only available for a small fee. The list has been compiled by evaluating original sources like churchbook entries and emigration files, and by indexing lesser known, usually locally orientated articles in German genealogical and historical magazines. 2. Structure / Abbreviations The following list is alphabetized by surnames, and within identical surnames by christian names. The German @umlauts@ have been transferred to @ae@, @oe@, and @ue@. The structure is as follows: 1st column: surname, christian name(s) 2nd column: birthdate 3rd column: destination 4th column: date or year of emigration 5th column: additional information The additional information shown might be a) the profession of an emigrant b) the name of his/her spouse (sometimes shown as "oo ......") c) the number of emigrating family members, shown as (for example) 1 / 2 / 3-4 which means number of 1 male grownup person 2 female grownup person 3 male children 4 female children 3. How to access additional information As indicated above, additional information can be obtained from the authors.
