Colleen thank you; I was trying to think what it was I could share with all our Bower/Bauer cousins here. Apple Sauce and Cider. (This is not alcohol and so can be given to children) Cook washed apples whole for about two hours with 1 ground nutmeg nut 3 ground sticks of cinnamon 10 whole cloves water to cover apples without them floating. When cooked drain liquid and serve as cider hot. remove skin from apples in segments and serve with hot carameled sugar or brown maple sugar melted. now for the Apple sauce; Mash the pulp through a strainer so as to remove the core, stem and all the other hard bits in apples. Add a little sugar more spices if necessary to taste, and serve in bowls garnished with mint. I hope you will all have a wonderful Yule tide season and that this is a sweet treat that all will enjoy.
