Is anyone related to these Bowers from Attala Co., Mississippi, or know anything about them? If so, please send me a note. They were listed in the 1850 Census - Attala Co., MS, Pg 110. Attala Co. is the next county south of where my Bowers lived. I don't know what part of TN they were originally from. Some Bowers moved to MS from Middle TN as mine did and a few others may have come from just across the TN/MS line. I have not discovered any connection to my group as yet, but maybe someone out there has additional info that might prove different. Head of Household: Lemuel Bowers, 37, b. It's been awhile since I last posted a query; I am trying to find the parents and older of Green Bowers, born abt 1775, Orange Co., No. Carolina. Does this Bowers connect in any way to the German database just added to the Cottage? Thanks, Leslie O.

Leslie O., According to family legend, Green Bowers b. c1775 NC was of English descent. The first record I have found of him is witnessing a deed in Orange Co NC in 1798, although it is believed that all his children except the youngest were born in Orange Co. Do you have proof that he was born in Orange Co? Do you have record of his marriage to Sarah (Sally) Cooper? I suspect he was the son of Benjamin Bowers who was the son of Giles Bowers d. c1800 in Franklin Co NC, but I have no proof. I would be happy to exchange more information with you.
