John Adam & Catherine Gemaelig are my grandparents back to the early 1700's. I suspect that they are from Koblenz, Germany. Definitely from Germany though. What information I do have is from a cousin living in Dillsburg, PA [Joan Crise]. What I do know of them from Joan is that they came from Germany with those children born in Germany and settled in the Carolinas. Their son Philip was born in 1767 in S. Carolina but died in Shelburne Cty., Nova Scotia. When the American Revolution broke up John his wife Catherine their 2 sons [Charles & Philip] move to Nova Scotia. They also had 5 daughters Catherine Elizabeth [m a John Henry], Angelica & Maria. I suspect either the daughters died young or stayed in S. Carolina if they married. My cousin told me the John Adam, wife & 2 sons were tories thus the move to Canada. Anyhow here's the layout of the family: John Adam Bower b. Germany, m. Germany, d.
