Oh well, here we go: Does this subject hit home with anybody out there? Job and Charity are my GGGG Grandparents. I can state that with confidence! It's trying to get into their past that has been difficult. In addition to info in subject heading, other details passed down include: Job was of Welsh extraction, he was a soldier for either the VA or GA militia in the revolutionary war. They were apparrently compensated in part with a land grant in what was then, Wilkes County, GA in the Upper Savannah River Valley. It is now Hart, Elbert & Franklin counties. When you do the math, Job died young...24 or probably 23. Circumstances of his death were tragic. He had come home on furlough to see his & Charity's new baby boy, William! He was born October 4, 1779. The day Job saw his son for the first time would be life changing for wife, Charity. Later that night, the Tories took Job from his home and murdered him. It has been passed down as well that Job was lynched or hung. As I reflect on this, it makes the Survivor TV show seem so lame. We realize that living conditions were more 'risky' back then. What are the chances of an infant baby surviving? Wonder how many close calls there were through childhood? In short, William did survive. It allows me the opportunity to pass on what I know. Had to be Divine intervention!!! Job had to have had siblings, right? Goodness the average family size back then was far greater than todays family size. How many families do we run into with family size in double digits? Perhaps, that is where we may uncover additional information into their past. What do we know about Charity? Far less really. LNU (last name unknown) that probably is not entirely accurate. it has been narrowed down... the possibilities include Cason, Carson, Carr, Karr & Grady. It seems Carr/Karr have been the more likely possibilities. However, it may not be her maiden name... she likely remarried. We are unsure of any dates about Charity as well (birth, marriage, death). I hope to get feedback from you BOWERS out there to perhaps shed some light on the mysteries associated with Job & Charity Bowers. Perhaps then I can test my theories regarding who in their past I feel they may be connected to! ==== BOWERS Mailing List ==== Need to reach Colleen, the discussion coordinator?
