Hi cousins, Where are all the roll call messages from everyone??? We're so quiet, I almost forgot we had a roll call going! Of nearly 300 people, only 18 of you (including me) have submitted posts. C'mon everyone! ... yes, you lurkers, newbies and novices, too! :) What're ya waitin' for? C'mon! ... post your people out here in front of everyone so we can all see. We have three other teams of cousins just waiting to see who you're all looking for! Colleen
I am searching for the Joel Bower family. They started with Joel (Sr.) being born somewhere in New York (1806), traveled to the Cincinnati Ohio area, where his children were born, then moved on to Ripley County, Indiana where Joel (Sr.) passed and was buried (bef Nov. 1872). His first wife, Amy Anthony, had children: Isiah P, Isaac, Joel (Jr), Martha Ann, Henrietta Auguestina (Hattie), Mary Catherine, Jeremiah, and Margaret Elizabeth. Joel's second wife, Mary Woods, had children: Electa (Lettie) R, Mercy A., James, Amity C, Francis (Fannie) E, and George A. Personally, I am interested in Joel Jr. and his line. Joel Jr was born in Ohio on May 1, 1838 and married Mary Elizabeth Blackmore on Jan 8, 1861 in Ripley County, Indiana. After their marriage, I cannot find any record of them, until they were buried at the Rock Creek Baptist Cemetery near Westport, Indiana (Decatur County). They had at least one child, Charley Bowers, who was my great grandfather. I cannot find information on my great grandfather, Charley, before his second marriage in 1899. Anyone with information which could bridge some of these gaps would be showered with thanks! :) Lisa
I must have missed the request for a roll call. I would LOVE for someone to help me find a relative for my brick wall (alias my great-great-grandmother) Laura Bower. She seems to have no history prior to her 1892 marriage to George Maddox (born 1874) in Muncie, IN. (No parents listed on the marriage application.) They had two children together: Beulah in 1893 and Webster in 1896. She then divorced George (I'm anxiously awaiting the paperwork on that from Delaware Co.) The two children stayed with George and his widowed mother, Mary. Laura then at some point married two more times. Once was to a Charles Rawlins/Rollins and the other time was to a man with the last name Childs. I do not know which one was #2 and which was #3. I do not know when or where Laura died. I'm working on checking out a Laura Childs who died in Delaware Co, IN (Muncie area) about 1947. One additional point to note...Laura's son, Webster, enlisted in the Army for WW1 in Canton, OH. I see there are a lot of Bower(s) in that area and wondered if he may have been living with or visiting family there??? Anyone out there find my Laura in there database? Hi Colleen, I've been waiting but so far nobody has posted these Bowers, so here goes: Polly Bowers born Feb. 17, 1778 was born in Thompson, Windham, Ct. She married Joseph Sheffield March 7, 1799 in Dudley, Worcester, Ma. They move to New Berlin, Chenango, NY and raise about 7 children including Lurinda Sheffield who married John Brooks of Plymouth, Chenango NY. Lurinda was by tradition an Indian. This tradition is known through many different lines who had not shared research until the advent of the computer. The Plymouth, Chenango, NY Bowers' move to Grant County, WI. Polly Bowers was the daughter of John Bowers (born June 16 ,1732 in Killingly, Windham Ct.) and Rebeckah Carpenter who were married Nov. 6, 1755 in Dudley, Worcester, Ma. They had children Polly, Zelotes, Jerathmael,Calvin (all born in Killingly, Windham, Ct. and John (born in Dudly, Worcester, Ma.) John Bowers (father of Polly) was the son of John Bowers and Zerviah Amsden (daughter of John Amsden and Hannah Howe) They had children John, Benajah, Samuel, Sarah and Zerviah all born in Killingly, Windham, Ct. I believe John Bowers (grandfather of Polly) was the son of John Bowers and Elizebeth Wilder of Lancaster, Worcester, Ma. Does anyone else know of the Indian tradition of the Bowers line? and is anyone else strolling down this garden path?
