-------- Original Message -------- Subject: [BROWER] Daniel & Matilda, b. abt. 1809 Resent-Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2001 21:19:06 -0600 Resent-From: BROWER-L@rootsweb.com Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2001 23:18:52 -0400 From: "Marc and Bonnie" <marcnbonnie@netzero.net> To: BROWER-L@rootsweb.com In researching my 3rd g-gradnmother Margaret Brower in Ontario, I've run across a family that is likely hers in Kitley Township, Leeds County. Daniel (b. abt. 1809 in Canada and Matilda Brower (b. abt 1809 in Ireland) are the parents in this family listed in the 1851 Kitley Township census. Children at home were Mary, Ozeas, John, Loftus Henry, and Obediah. I recieved the following from a fellow researcher. DANIEL BROWER age 42 bCan (but could be somewhere else...Canadian censuses for this period are notoriously innacurate), farmer, Weslyan Methodist, wife MATILDA 42 b IRELAND with children MARY 20, OZEAS 17, JOHN 12, LOFTUS Henry 10 and OBEDIAH 4--all children born Canada. There is a MARGARET Brower age 20 living with a Robert Johnston family in Kitley, she is bCanada. Robert Johnston and wife Elizabeth both b Ireland, Jonathan Johnston 22, b Can. The Johnstons are Weslyan Methodist, as is Margaret. A CAROLINE Brower, age 18 and bCanada (and it says Bower also in one book!) lived with the William Johnston family in Kitley. These Johnstons are also WM.In the 1861 and 1871 Kitley census records I see no sign of the Brower family. I also have the Kitley records from 1804-1844, and there's nothing for them, so it looks like they didn't stay too long. Is anyone missing this family? Good Hunting!
