Mary Lou - It's hard to say. I know SO very little about these Bowers. In fact, for the last two years I've been searching as Bower with no "S" because she's Laura Bower on the marriage certificate. I cannot remember where I saw it (on a census form, I believe) but I THINK her parents were both born in VA and came to IN before she was born.
