Hello List, According to my grandfather's 1959 New Jersey death cert and 1936 SS application, my grandfather, WILLIAM CLAYTON BOWERS was born 29 Sept 1884 in Eckerty, Crawford County, Indiana, his father's name was CLIFFORD TILLMAN BOWERS and his mother's name was CLARA ADELIA LARKIN. Armed with this information, I wrote to Crawford County to obtain his birth record. I was sent two birth records, one for 1884 and one for 1888. The children's birthdates are 4 years apart, but father's age listed for 1884 birth was 21 years old and father's age listed for 1888 birth was 31.
