Merton's brother Harold Bowers had a son named Paul Bowers, from one of his two marriages (to Louise or to Ethel A.). Paul was last heard from by Merton and Harold's sister Ethel, who apparently had contact with Paul in 1948. At that time, Paul was in either Tucson or Phoenix AZ.
