Since spring I haven't gotten to do much genealogy even tho very much info from varied branches of mine and my hubby's families has come to me from various sources. Life, grkids and my hubby's surgery got in the way. Also my computer dying!!! (I've been working on a loaner for a month now with none of my programs or info.) I did, however, receive a response from a post I have had on Rootsweb "forever" regarding my husband's BOWER/BAUER line in Fanshawe (London), Ont. I finally got one! A fellow named Ken referred me to his brother-in-law, Bill in his 80s, who lives in that area. Bill and I have been corresponding around our repective spouse's surgeries and it is so neat! As a child he and his mom rode the horse and buggy past the BOWER family home on the way to the grocery store owned by my husband's great aunt's husband's family! And better yet, the house is still there! He even had the great uncle, Charles BRADLEY, b. approx 1865, as a temp teacher for a few weeks in the eighth grade! Plus his family is/will be buried in the same cemetery as the BOWERs. Talk about connecting! This is as neat as talking to my 95 year old gramma about the past. I NEVER thought I would be in a situation like this. It is neat enough to find records online but to connect to a living, breathing connection to so far back is really precious! So far I haven't gotten any hard dates or anything but I now know that the Bradleys were from the London area, not western Canada as I had thought so that opens a new avenue of search. And he was also a teacher in both areas. My hope is to find the Bradley descendants and maybe find more info that way. I think daughters in a family often have more in depth info to pass on than the sons so I have my hopes. Bill is also going to send pictures of the house and any other buildings that would figure into the BOWER past. So neat! Lita - can you tell I'm excited? lol
Hi Lita - very glad to hear of your great find. If you find your BOWER(S) came originally from Norfolk/Suffolk border area in England please contact me again - as mine came from that region. Fabulous news for you. Kind regards.
