I >> Lucille, As a descendant of William Pitt Bowers with Bowers family all over Union Hill and Davidson County Tennessee, I would be very anxious to learning how and where I could get a copy of the James Bowers Descendants book you mention. Is it still in print? I just went to the online catalog of the southern history library here and they didn't seem to have a copy for me to look at. Any other information you might provide would be much appreciated. By the way, Donna's website is outstanding and she is to be commended for all the research she has completed, organized, and shared. She is much further along in her Bowers work than I. I continue to learn about my family through her. Suzanne ==== BOWERS Mailing List ==== Need to reach Colleen, the discussion coordinator? 3. I rec'd several notes about my web page on Bowers of Davidson Co., TN. I thank everyone for their good words. James Bowers and William Pitt Bowers were both fairly well documented. Since 3 decades of census records are missing for TN and I didn't know who was who in Davidson Co., I looked at virtually every record I could find on Bowers in hopes of discovering that one piece of information that would sort out my own line which is Jeremiah Bowers of neighboring Wilson Co. The irony is James, William Pitt, and Jeremiah were all in NC for a time prior to migrating to TN. So, the mystery still remains as to how or whether these Middle TN Bowers are connected. P.S. If anyone has any corrections or sees anything contrary to what they know on the Davidson Co., TN Bowers, please let me know. These are strictly my research notes on the web page. It's always possible to have made a typo or made a wrong guess when analyzing data. I am not an authority on James' or William's line, only my own line. But I wanted to present what I had collected on everyone in Davidson Co. in hopes that it would help others find the sources/data they need, especially since I was so fortunate at the time to live 20 minutes from one of the best genealogy libraries in the U.S. (other than the LDS). I guess I'm lucky we moved so far from a genealogy library as good; otherwise, I'd be there everyday instead of organizing what I have!
