She was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1830; came to Wisconsin in her youth and to Whitewater (Walworth Co. WI), in 1865. She was married to John RUTHERFORD January 1, 1852. If she had lived until the New Year they expected to celebrate their golden wedding. Three children and their families remain to comfort the father - George RUTHERFORD, Mrs. Sarah NOEL of this city, and Mrs. Emma BAILEY of Koshkonong. Mrs. RUTHERFORD was sick for three months, but bore her sufferings patiently. The funeral was held from their home on Walworth Avenue Saturday afternoon. Rev. F. V. Stevens of the Congregational church spoke words of consolation to the sorrowing ones. The ladies' trio of the M.E. church rendered appropriate music. Flowers in profusion were around the loved form. James and George WOOD, of Milwaukee, nephew of the deceased, attended the funeral. Mrs. D. HYMERS, a sister of Mr. RUTHERFORD, a niece, Mrs.(Mary) WHITE, both of Monroe, also attended and Miss Maud LANE of Beloit Hannah was the daughter of William BOWER and Sarah CHARLESWORTH who were originally from Yorkshire, England. .
