Still trying to find any background on my John Bauer/Bower. He was born somewhere in Germany in 1833 and was in Fanshawe, London, ONT by at least 1858. I have a letter from his daughter to his son, John who moved to Minnesota, naming all the family and their birthdates but nothing about any grandparents, or aunts or uncles. While he could have been an only child, I'm very sure he had parents. Except for his son, George, I have everything about the family coming straight down to my husband. George, 1858 - 1898, kept the Bauer spelling. He died in Long Prairie, MN. He didn't marry, to my knowledge, until he was 40 years old but had been a RR man so there may be more to the story than I know there. His marriage to Amy Nevil produced one daughter, Catherine E. Bauer who married Ortwin C. H. Rosenow. They produced 4 children, only one was a son, Robert. I have talked to him personally and he has no idea of his sisters married names or whereabouts. Said there was a fall! ing out and he stayed home and took care of dad and mom til they died in 1994 and 1996. Robert never married. Lita Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the heck happened
Ach! I had a wrong date there! Uncle George died February 3, 1939, not in 1898. He got married in 1898. Marriage did not kill him.
