    1. [BOWER] CHAT: RE: SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE
    2. Colleen Pustola
    3. Hi family, Well, after my 2-month "hiatus" from doing the Coffees, I find I can't handle this anymore... I miss you all too much! I owe you an explanation and that's what this particular "pre-Coffee" is for. (If you'll notice, I've stepped out of the usual format.) The biggest event in my life is that my mom will be 81 this month and finally, after 6 years of one negating reason after another, I've begun putting major efforts into getting her side of the genealogy written. When we arrived back in the States (1999) after our last tour in Germany, I determined that I would get my mom's side of the genealogy published. I didn't... for two years I didn't. I need to get her book done before her time in this life is ended, and that's a lot of what's been tying up my life the past couple months. In addition, we've had company nearly all summer dropping in and out of the house. With those two factors, and in-life events added, my time has simply been eaten up. In the middle of that I was offline for nearly two weeks. My brand-new computer threatened to die on me, (after I carefully moved files from my old harddrive to the new one) taking 2-years worth of email database with it. I had to drop _everything_ to work on saving it and the rest of my files. That sure wasn't fun! I wasn't fighting a virus, but I do believe a couple components inside the computer weren't happy with each other. This isn't working. The book isn't even near finished. The company is gone... temporarily; more is coming. In-life events are just _not_ going to go away! I'm back to using my old computer. I've been very low-key for two months, trying to glean every second I can/could to work on the book. However, every Sunday rolls around and I find myself thinking of all of you.... I miss spending Sunday morning with you all! So, next Sunday morning, please expect me to be "there" with you. For a while, it may not be for every Sunday, but most assuredly it won't be for a two-month absence again. You're worth it... you really are. Family ... it's what we're all about. I wish you all a week filled with health, productivity, fun, and above all ... filled with love. "See" you next Sunday! ) ( ) _.-~~-. (@\'--'/. Colleen ('``.__.'`) `..____.'

    2. Colleen Pustola
    3. Hi everyone, This was sent to me from another list and I feel it could be important to all of us. I've already visited the site and it appears to be on the up and up. I hope you all have a SUPER Sunday! :) Colleen >-------------------- >On a recent "Today Show" there was a story about two men who went to >Hanoi on a business trip. The men encountered a guy selling old GI dog >tags from US servicemen who were killed during the Viet Nam War. They >were disgusted by the thought of this man profiting from the sale of >these tags. Upon returning to the U.S., they decided to go back to Viet > >Nam and purchase ALL the dog tags. They did so, paying 19 cents per tag! >They brought home several hundred tags. The plan is to return the tags >to surviving family members, when they can find them. The process has >already begun with one set being turned over to a grieving Mom on July >4th, (coincidentally, it was on her birthday)! > >These two men have set up a website, >"http://www.founddogtags.com" listing the names of all those whose tags >they purchased. >If you lost friends, family, or know of someone who lost a loved one in >Viet Nam, I suggest you check out this website. Bauer is a farmer who works on his own land, whose possession is so big, that it nourishes him and his family completely. There are Hof-(farm) Voll- (full) or Halb- (half) -Bauern. In contrast there are Viertelhofbesitzer (quarterfarmowners) and Eigenlehner, with only a small farm, who had to lease additional land and Häusler or Büdner, which had only a little piece of gardenland and lived from day labour or trade.
