Good morning family! :) I'm going to try a different tack this morning ... these Bower(s) are making me half CRAZY!!! After nearly 20 years, they just really need to get found! :) Oliver P. Bower(s) was born 1830 in NY, died there 1887. A narrative on him in a county history states he "came of New England ancestry. His father, Isaac Bower, was a native of Connecticut, and coming to Schuyler county, New York, cast in his lot with the early settlers who laid the foundation...." Cousin Vanda Greenwood and I already know that we DON'T know if we're searching properly for Bower or Bowers. We DO know that we could use some serious help from any of you New England-research cousins. :) I have Isaac b. 1776 in New York. Obviously, THAT is now in question! Isaac married twice, the first time was before 1805 - to whom and where is unknown. Sometime between 1811 and 1818 his first wife died in New York (Schuyler County?). Again, sometime between 1811 and 1819 Isaac married Elinor _?_. Does anyone know her last name? What I'm really seeking with this post today is anyone who knows of an Isaac Bower(s), born 1776 in Connecticut. Thanks for any help, cousins. I hope you're all having a THRILLING Thursday! :) Colleen
Dear Joan, Good to hear from you Joan, I have not made any progress on the Bowers name since the last time you shared with me. I have made progress on other lines though and have managed to unblock some lines. So, If you wouldn't mind sharing again, I would love to find out more. Terry
Hi Terry, Good to see your name again. How are things going? Any new research finds? I've made a little progress with the Bowers. I'll be glad share if you'd like. Did some of those Ohio Bowers possibly come from IL? I have two sons of Jeremiah Bowers (John and James) of TN who migrated from KY to IL and were in 1870 Washington Co., IL census. Anyone connect to them?

Help!!! Bear with me here. I am new to posting, and I have been given a notepad that my Great-Aunt wrote her "genealogy" research back in the 1940's. It is very confusing, so I am hoping some of these names will mean something to someone out there. If I am translating my Great-aunt's notes correctly, all of these people are either cousins or siblings. The notes imply that they are related to Joel Bower's family of Ohio, then Ripley County, Indaina, somehow. But if my Great-Aunt figure out how, then she didn't put it in her notes (that I can find). The handwritting is terrible, so if the names aren't spelled exactly correctly, it is probably because I cannot read it. Let me know if any of this helps or links to your research...this is a big puzzle for me! Anna Margetha Bower b 7-9-1826 d. 5-5-1899 m. John Ordiman children: Lyman - died Carolina m. Hi, I believe my GGGrandmother(Bowers is also related to the Bowers in Canton as she' no first name, maybe Alice?) was my Moms Grandma, but also one of the Bowers (Inez, or Ines) married a Barber) which was my maiden name. My mother remembers going to a Bowers reunion in 1935 in Fayette county, PA at one of these Bower's home. At that time, the town was called Ada, PA, but don't believe that town exists any longer. There are a few cemeteries on line with some of these Bowers in them, Brier Hill Cemetery and a few others in Fayette County, PA. Canton cousins might want to check them out to see if any kin folks made their last stop at these cemeteries. I'm also at a "cement wall" on my Bowers side, but without a first name, 'tis hard to find much out, but GGGrandma married a Minehart (Fredrich) and not sure if Iness or Inez was maybe her sister? My Bower may have come out of Ohio. Perhaps in the Canton area (only a theory) She was Laura Bower, who married George Maddox in 1892 in Muncie, Indiana. Her son, Webster Maddox, registered with the Army in Canton, OH and I can think of no other reason for him to be there, unless he had family there. Again, just a theory, but there are a lot of Bowers in Canton..... I am also researching Bowers from Canton, Stark County. My ggrandad was Christian (Christopher) F. Bowers Born 1856 somewhere in Germany. He married Charlotte A. Long of Salem, Ohio and they had somewhere between 11 and 15 children. Both Christian and Charlotte are buried in West Lawn Cemetery in Canton. My grandfather was their third child - Harry B. Bowers. Any information or connection to any of these would be wonderful. Thanks George W. Myers IV
