My mysterious Bowens! In advance, thank you for any assistance that you can provide! GENERATION I JOHN BOWEN (1820s/1830s?), b. Nova Scotia (some Census Records); b. New York (Death Records of daughter) Unknown location of life or death. He married: Jane TURNER, b. Nova Scotia (all Census Records) HAD: * Jane (Jennie) Bowen, b. 1853-64 (differs in every record I've found, sigh) * Annie Bowen, b. 1850; d. 1899, Reading, Essex Co., Ma. Was working in a saloon in 1880 in Note: May have lived in Halifax (birth location of mother in Everett, MA); or New Halifax, letter I have from granddaughter in 1930 re Henry Tucker's pension applicaton). GENERATION II JENNIE BOWEN married Henry Raymond TUCKER in 1879, in Stoneham, MA (for which I have found no TUCKER or BOWEN connection. Both were listed as residents of Boston. He was a clerk at the U.S. Customs House. There is a Charles BOWEN down the street from where they lived, but no John/Jane. Frst son Henry Raymond Tucker, Jr. was born 7 month later (and did at a mere 18 of heart disease). Henry and Jennie (Bowen) Tucker had 9 children: Henry Raymond, Jr., William Samuel Tucker, Annie A (or B). Tucker, Lydia Louise Newton Tucker, Newton Tucker, Mary Tucker, Helen Tucker. These are not necessarily in order as I as away from my files. They are my mysterious people and have been for years. Abt 1930, my gr-aunt Annie wrote to New Glasgow, NS for birth records of her mother and were told that in that time period that they were not kept. So... While other records show she was born in Halifax; her own children believed her to have been born in New Glasgow. Much info in this time period is minimal. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol Head" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 12:59 PM Subject: [BOWEN] Listowner Post - ROLL CALL > Please send information about your BOWEN ancestors to this list so that > other listmembers can assist you or connect with you! > > Please use the given name and place of residence for your earliest known > BOWEN ancestor as your subject line. > > This is a large list - we should be able to help each other, if we will > all > send our information to [email protected] > > Carol C.
