As far as I have been able to etermine, It starts with Moses Bowen, who was said to be the son of Evan Ap wen, orn in 1674 in Carmarthin, Wales and his wife, Rebecca Reese, daughter of ugh Reese. She was born in 1676 also in Wales. Moses and Rebecca were arried in 1703. heir son, John Bowen b in Chester County, PA in 1705 married Lillian cIlhaney before 1730. She was the daughter of Henry and Jane McIlhaney and as born 1710 in Ireland. John and Lillian moved to Augusta County, VA. They ad 13 children and all of them were born in Augusta County, VA. John died n 1761 and Lily died in 1780, both in Augusta County, Va. heir daughter, Agnes Bowen is my 7th Great Grandmother. (John and illian are, of course, my 8th Great Grandparents). Agnes married John McFerrin and had one son. John Jr. Sometime after his death, she married Archibald uchanan. He was the son of James Buchanan and Martha Allison. Agnes and rchibald had 8 children. They came to Tennessee from Augusta County, VA in 785 and settled on 640 acres of land near the Hermitage, home of President ndrew Jackson. Agnes and Archibald built a home in Nashville called "The ld Blue Brick" in 1781. Agnes died in 1803 and Archibald died in 1806. hey were buried in the Garden of The Old Blue Brick, but their son, James, ad them moved when the house was torn down. They are now buried in the uchanan Family Cemetery, in Hermitage Tennessee, but their graves are not arked. Their daughter, Martha Buchanan who married Andrew Steele, are my 6 reat Grandparents. his line continued with the Steele Family to the Wright Family to the urt Family and on down to me. have a lot on all of these families. The list also includes Castleman nd Shane and a few more. If anyone needs any information on any of these amilies, I will be glad to help any way I can. Most of this information ame from Buchanan Researchers and also from a book on the Bowen Family. Also nformation came from the Tennessee State Library and Archives and the etro Nashville Archives, and other researchers. The Buchanan's, Castleman. Steele's and Shane's were important in the ettlement of Nashville and the adjancent areas. These Families are pretty well documented in the Nashville Area. ope this isn't to much, but the list said as much as we have. I have a ot more, but, this is a short version. ope everyone has a great day, ollie Hurt Blazek [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) ------------------------------ o unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] ith the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of he message ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
