Clare -----Original Message----- From: Elizabeth M Sloane <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thu, Sep 24, 2009 7:11 am Subject: [BOWEN] BOWEN-GORDON I am just curious to know if anyone on the BOWEN list is related to Emery BOWEN, circa 1845, and Deborah Elizabeth GORDON. I believe Emery Bowen's father was WILLIAM BOWEN. Deborah Elizabeth GORDON was the daughter of ELIPHALET GORDON whose ancestry is traced back to the earliest recorded GORDON in the US, ALEXANDER GORDON. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
This is Doc Young and I do not recall anything about an Emery & Elizabeth Bowen. And I just checked the Bowen Archives for the month of September. I replied to this post Subject line Bowen-Gordon Elizabeth M Sloane wrote: I am just curious to know if anyone on the BOWEN list is related to Emery BOWEN, circa 1845, and Deborah Elizabeth GORDON. Thank you...Doc Which Clare Bowen Molina replied and in her reply was "?? Doc Young, what is your relationship to the Bowen's? and I did not read this as the Subject line is Bowen-Gordon. I just now found it in my Trash folder. I shall try to set my side of the Bowen Sage straight as follows, as also someone else mentioned Young's being part of their MS Bowen's and I do not want others to think because my surname is Young, I am related to Bowen's. However, I am related by Dora Etta Bowen. My surname of Young, I am not a descendant of any Young's, as my father was born Begnal and his mother took the name Young for reasons of her own. So I have no Young's connected to Bowen's. As other volunteers of the Gen Mass list sent me much on my direct ancestor Dora Etta Bowen parents, Doraetta, b. 27 Apr 1867, Foxboro, the dau. of George W. Bowen and Phebe A. Tucker. George W. Bowen, b. abt. 1830, son of Hiram Bowen (1807) and Philena Howard. Hiram Bowen, son of Ephraim Bowen and Rhoda I have also read that Ephraim is the son of Uriah & Ester Bowen, unconfirmed. I was about to post to the Bowen list regarding the connection of George to Hiram, to Ephraim to Uriah Bowen. I have found census of Bowen's being Mulatto, Black and White from Rehoboth. As far as I know, mine were white. I cannot confirm or deny if my George W. Bowen, was born in Raynham, Rehoboth, Norton, Taunton or Foxboro. I understand Norton once was North Taunton. There are other births in the 1870's to George W. & Phebe, in Rehoboth. Dora Etta married 3 times and I have the complete dates, Oscar Crocker, 1883, possibly Foxboro, 2m. Roland Leonard, 1891, Norton, and 3m. my great grandfather Anthony D. Perry (Pereira Cardoso), b. Azores in Providence RI, 1900. Thats my story and I am sticking to it...so if someone has more information to help confirm I would appreciate this and I have no idea how Emery and Elizabeth Bowen tie into my Bowen's. Regards, D.R.
