Thank you for your reply. Although my William Bowen was raised in Mendon, Mass, I haven't found his parents. It seems there were a lot of Bowens in Massachusetts back then, and too many with the same first name! Very confusing. I haven't found any tie-ins with other Bowens at this point. Have just traced my line back to William Bowen. ?But thank you for letting me know how your ancestry line ties in with a branch of the Bowens.? Maybe we need to have a one-name society for Bowens and try to unravel all these different branches? I just now found it in my Trash folder. I shall try to set my side of the Bowen Sage straight as follows, as also someone else mentioned Young's being part of their MS Bowen's and I do not want others to think because my surname is Young, I am related to Bowen's. However, I am related by Dora Etta Bowen. My surname of Young, I am not a descendant of any Young's, as my father was born Begnal and his mother took the name Young for reasons of her own. So I have no Young's connected to Bowen's. As other volunteers of the Gen Mass list sent me much on my direct ancestor Dora Etta Bowen parents, Doraetta, b. 27 Apr 1867, Foxboro, the dau. of George W. Bowen and Phebe A. Tucker. George W. Bowen, b. abt. 1830, son of Hiram Bowen (1807) and Philena Howard. Hiram Bowen, son of Ephraim Bowen and Rhoda I have also read that Ephraim is the son of Uriah & Ester Bowen, unconfirmed. I was about to post to the Bowen list regarding the connection of George to Hiram, to Ephraim to Uriah Bowen. I have found census of Bowen's being Mulatto, Black and White from Rehoboth. As far as I know, mine were white. I cannot confirm or deny if my George W. Bowen, was born in Raynham, Rehoboth, Norton, Taunton or Foxboro. I understand Norton once was North Taunton. There are other births in the 1870's to George W. & Phebe, in Rehoboth. Dora Etta married 3 times and I have the complete dates, Oscar Crocker, 1883, possibly Foxboro, 2m. Roland Leonard, 1891, Norton, and 3m. my great grandfather Anthony D. Perry (Pereira Cardoso), b. Azores in Providence RI, 1900. Thats my story and I am sticking to it...so if someone has more information to help confirm I would appreciate this and I have no idea how Emery and Elizabeth Bowen tie into my Bowen's. Regards, D.R. My mysterious John Bowen/Jane Turner, parents of Jane/Jennie Bowen (b. 1852-1863, Nova Scotia, likely New Glasgow, Pictou), and Annie Bowen, also were in MA. Jennie married 1878 to Henry Raymond TUCKER, lived in Boston, Dorchester, Everett, Malden and Reading. Annie (1880 Census) was in Revere, died 1899 Reading, and buried with sister Jennie. No clues to John and Jane, other than the death record of Annie Bowen says parents were both b. NS. (I have searched for them in the various Census records to no avail; also passenger records to Boston). Any BOWEN/TURNER -- or BOWENs in Nova Scotia - Boston/Mass connections on the list???? (I have posted before and keep hoping!!!) Worked in the past w/a Susan Manning who had a Wm Bowen in NS and Boston; and a Sandy McCaw (McGaw?) (who I WISH I could find again, as I've "found" her line in Nova Scotia) and am in contact w/a relative there. SANDY: If you are out there, please re-connect w/me. Thx! I've got your family, and willing family members in New Glasgow!!! It would be nice if all those with Bowen's used the Bowen list and posted...so many when posting leave out important info, such as from when to years, where living so one could readily see if a possible connection or not. i.e. Bowen, Ephraim>Hiram>George>Dora, MA, Raynham>Norton>Foxboro>Rehoboth 1790-1930 etc. Its is all my cousin Ginger's fault for she swears Dora Etta Bowen (1867-1922) gave her daughter our grandmother Thelma Ferne Perry (1906-1979) Indian beads and Thelma said her mother was Cherokee. I know Cherokee's were not in MA...so I was looking to find the line of Bowen's beyond Dora Etta, and I was coming up with George Bowen's (Dora's father) who were Mulatto or Black, is how I became more involved....I was satisfied with knowing Dora's father, and now since learning her mother's maiden was not Gacher, but Tucker. The Perry side is Portuguese (Pereira Cardoso's) who arrived in the 1880's from the Azores and settled in Dighton and Taunton. My great grandfather Anthony D. Perry married in 1900 to Dora Etta. So as far as I know there is no Native American in my Bowen line, but then I could be mistaken. Thanks....I hope you find your William Bowen connections.....when was your William Bowen born?
