Men from SC who served in the Continental Army have their files in Washington. IN the SC archives are a few photostats of some of he Continental Rolls of musters. Benjamin Bowen, pension John Bowen (several) brother Sterling Bowen Thomas Bowen David Bowen Joshua Bowen Susan Bowen W.P. Bowen These names show in the SC Archives in one way or another. Benjamin Bowen of Pickens Co SC drew Revolutionary Pension "W20 743" and stated he was born in 1756 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and removed before the Revolution with his parents to Guilford County, NC and enlisted in the Revolution in Guilford Co NC in 1776 and saw service under Capt John Nelson in Col. Piasley's Regt....and also under Col. Lock and under Capt. George Pierce and Capt. Smith Moore.....Pension was allowed in Anderson Dist. SC - SC Agency. He died 5 Nov 1837/38. He gives a list of his children and their birth dates as well as his marriage. Pendleton District was cut off from Abbeville circa 1788/89....today old Pendleton District consists of threee counties of Anderson, Pickens and Oconee. The Bowens in that area are originally from Pennsylvania. Vol. 1" The Bowen and Findley families went from Lancaster Co. PA to Guilford Co. NC before the American Revolutionary War. Benjamin served in the NC Line in the War. Benjamin and Mary married and later moved to Anderson County where he received a land grant of 490 Acres for seven pounds which was signed by Governor Thomas Pinkney on January 5, 1789. Arthur (Captain) 1734 - 1816 2. John Jr. (2nd Lt) 1735 - 1789 3. Reese Tate (Lt) 1737 - 1780) killed at King's Mtn 4. Henry (Lt) 1738 - 1808 5. Robert P. (Captain) 1740 - 1817 6. William (Captain) 1742 - 1804 7. Charles 1749 (or 1747) - unknown 8. Benjamin (see above) 9. Moses 1758 - unknown (died of smallpox during the Rev War.
