My husband has Adam Bowen born about 1783 in Washington County, Pa and died before 1870 in Lawrence County, Ky. He married Mary Wooten and had four children - Mary, Henry, Daniel (born May 1820) and Matilda. Matilda born 1814 in Floyd County, Ky and died 1876 in Lawrence County, Ky. She married William Pack born 1811 in Giles County, VA and died 1853 in Lawrence County, Ky. The Pack family married into the Hensley family. Probably not related to your Bowen/Hensley family, but you never know. My husband's family (Hensley) also has Bowen ancestries. They were in Pike County, Kentucky in the early 1800s. Were any of your family from that area? This is interesting to me, my grandmother was a Hensley and she married my grandfather, a Bowen. They were in Moore County, TN. Still looking for information on early 1800s and previous Bowen family related to Daniel Bowen b 1818 Huntland, Franklin Cty, TN. In two years of effort I have not been able to connect them to a line further back. My info is on ancestry.com as Rasmussen Miller Family Tree and also at links from my blog : http://pruningthefamilytree.blogspot.com/ ------------------ Rik Rasmussen

My Bohans (Bohen/Bowen) are from Portumna,Galway, ireland starting with Richard Bohan (c1828-1901) & Sarah Ridge (c1830-1860). All children from that marriage - Michael Bowen (1848-1926), Patrick Bohen (1850-1923), James (1852-1934), Maria (1854-aft1940), Ellen (1856-1945) and Bridget ( 1857 - aft1940) settled in New York City. Have info on all lines, still need more.
I hate to be the one to disagree with the information re: the Moses Bowen family... However, while all of Moses' children were born in PA, ALL of John's children were also born there... my proof is the petition application of Benjamin Bowen, Rev. War soldier, who states that he was born in Lancaster County, PA, and he was the 2nd youngest of John's and Lillian's children. "Benjamin Bowen of Pickens Co SC drew Revolutionary Pension "W20 743" and stated he was born in 1756 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and removed before the Revolution with his parents to Guilford County, NC and enlisted in the Revolution in Guilford Co NC in 1776 and saw service under Capt John Nelson in Col. Piasley's Regt....and also under Col. Lock and under Capt. George Pierce and Capt. Smith Moore.....Pension was allowed in Anderson Dist. SC - SC Agency. He died 5 Nov 1837/38. He gives a list of his children and their birth dates as well as his marriage." I also have a copy of the original application, and have been researching this family for many years - my maternal grandmother was a Bowen and I do have a photo of her father, David Benson Bowen, and his three sons. I have never seen anywhere that the children of John and 'Lily' were born anywhere but Pennsylvania... Any questions? Email me [email protected] Diane S.
My Charles Bowen and his wife Susanna Dickinson had a daughter Huldah, besides the Huldah Bowen Bates buried in the same cemetery as Charles. Huldah supposedly was born in 1744 Hopkinton, Washington Co., RI and married Caleb Bates 4 May 1769 Hopkinton. She died in 1834 Tunkhannock, Wyoming Co., PA. She also had what looks like her first son named Charles. I have found nothing in Washington Co., RI that seems to help me, or in PA. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, May 26, 2012 6:10 AM Subject: Re: [BOWEN] Charles Bowen d.
