Hi Pat, my line hooks up with William Bowen whom you have born in 1730. Married Catherine Van Antwerp. The info I have agrees with you except that I have William born 13 Oct 1734. He and Catherine had the following children: Abraham, Thomas, Peggy Bradshw, William, Victor, Cornelia, Anjeltje (Ann) Unger, Petrus (Pieter), Daniel and JOhn. Most are listed in Catherine's will. Will of Catherine Bowen, written 30 Sept 1817: `.....first I give and bequest unto my beloved daughter, Ann Unger, the sum of 10 pounds currency out of my estate. I do also give and bequeath to my eldest son, William Bowen, the sum of 6 pounds currency. I also give and I bequeath unto my two younger sons, John and Abraham Bowen, 5 pounds each. I do also give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter, Peggy Branshaw (sic), the sum of 3 pounds currency. I also give and bequeath unto my grandchildren of my son, Victor Bowen, each the sum of 5 shillings, which several legacies or sums of money`. .....son, John was executor. She listed the following children, Ann, John, Abraham, Peggy, Victor (his children). At the end she wrote that the remainder of her estate be divided between the children and for Ann, John and Abraham `think proper to give to my son, Daniel Bowen anything out of my estate they may`. Will proved 29 April 1818. She does not mention Pieter but this info from Schenectady history does. Perhaps this will help you. http://www.schenectadyhistory.org/families/firstsettlers/a_bo.html Genealogies of the Descendants of the First Settlers of Schenectady: Abeel to Boyd [This information is from Contributions for the Genealogies of the Descendants of the First Settlers of the Patent and City of Schenectady, from 1662 to 1800 by Jonathan Pearson (Albany, NY: J. Hello, I am looking for descendants of James and Martha Jane Bowen, Duplin County, NC. I have nothing more on this family. James and Martha had a son, Abram (Abe) b. 1894 who married Hattie Mathews b. 1895, Duplin County. and married about 1921. Hattie died at age 26. I have their marriage and her death certificates. They resided in Wallace, NC. I don't know if Abe had siblings or not. Hattie Mathews is my grandfather's sister. His name was Walter Mathis (sp) different spelling from hers. Not sure why. Their mother was Laura Mathews, who also died when they were 4 or 5 years old. His aunts, Matilda (Matt) and Rhody raised them as best they could. Neither were married and had children of their own. Born to them were: Abe, Jr., Martha, Edna and Thomas Bowen. I have looked in the Census and can not find either one of them. I really need your help. Thanks. **************New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News & more. Try it out (http://local.mapquest.com/?ncid=emlcntnew00000002)

Carole - Where did you find the middle initial for John? I have been doing research for a long time on this family (and others), and I was hoping that you could enlighten me as to the source of this initial which was pretty uncommon in Wales at that time... and none of his siblings appear to have middle initials. Although I won't say 'never', its rather unusual... and the first time I have seen it used. Also interested in the Cunningham family... Thanks Diane S Sanfilippo descendant of Benjamin, son of John, son of Moses
Hi Marie, Your husband and I share the same line. I haven't worked on neither the Bowen or Hunt lines in a few years. Brothers, sisters and cousins intermarried in these two lines. On down further in the Hunt line they followed the same tradition. Three Hunt siblings married Weaver siblings in Autauga Co., AL and I am a descendant of one of these marriages. Below is the URL for my homepage and genealogy page with my direct lines. I am so glad to find someone who is working on the Bowen line. I don't have a lot on the line, since I have never lived in the area they were in. what research I have done was just a day or two now and then when we were vacationing. I will get back to you as soon as I can. I have been sick a lot the last few years and got way behind on my genealogy. I am trying to catch up, but it is a slow process. Hello Joy, guess that makes us cousins. Do you have any info on William and Rachael Bowen, or William and Catherine Van Antwerpen Bowen or William and Cornelia Quackenbush Bowen or/and especially, Abraham and Elizabeth Palmer Bowen. I have very little info on the women and would of course love to know more. Here is what I can offer: Elizabeth Palmer was the daughter of David Palmer, a UEL, I think he was a Corporal. Eliz. was born between 1791 and 1795 near Schenectady, NY. She and Abraham married in 1808 in Fredericksburgh, Ontario. Willem Bowing (Bowen) 13 Oct 1734 in Montgomery, NY - 10 Mar 1803 in Richmond Twp, Lennox and Addington, Ontario to Cahterine (Catarina) Van Antwerp (Antwerpen) born 13 Oct 1743 in Schectady, died 30 Sep 1817 in Richmond, Ontario. Her will lists her eldest son, William, and her youngest son Abraham. Her parents were Pieter Daniels Van Antwerpen and Engeltie Mebie Van Antwerpen. William Bowen (Bowing) married Cornelia Quackenbos in 1733, I have no info on her other than that. Willem was born in Schenectady 11 Jun 1703 and his baptism lists his parents William and Rachel Jonkers Bowen. Rachel Jonkers born 20 Jun 1786 in Albany NY, was the daughter of Jan Janse Jonkers (Yonkers) born 1640-1703 and his wife Trintje Class, no info on her. I also have no further info on this Willem Bowen, not even his parents. If any of this helps you, great. IF you can add to it, I'd surely appreciate it.
