    1. Re: [BOWEN] BOWEN-GORDON
    2. Emery Bowen was my great-grandfather.? As close as I can tell he was born? 1810 in East Mendon, Ontario, NY. He married Deborah Elizabeth Gordon (sometimes the given names are reversed)? 22 May, 1831 in West Mendon, NY.?The church where they were married burnt down, so have no 'certificate' of their marriage- only Elizabeth's declaration in her widow's pension application. ?? Emery's father was William Bowen a Revolutionary War Veteran. I have not been able to discover who Emery's? mother was.? ? Emery and his family are located in the following censuses: 1840 for Rush, ?Monroe County, NY, 1850 Macomb County, Michigan. 1860 Rollin township in Lenawee County, MI. To date I have not been able to find them in the 1870 census.? Emery died on 3 Mar 1880 in Port Austin, Michiganand Elizabeth died 21 April 1899 in Port Austin. ?? 1. [BOWEN] Caroline And Allen Bowen
    2. Jamie Aiken
    3.  Hello, I need ANY information on Caroline and Allen Bowen. Both of mixed race (mulatto). They lived in Pickens county SC.  I will list all the info I have below. thank you for your time. Jamie N. Aiken   Allen Bowen Birth 1793 Death April 12 1876   Caroline Bowen (Unknown maiden name) Birth 1816 Death December 31 1892   Both Caroline and Allen are buried at a Caucasian church beside several other Bowen's. The other Bowen's are white leaders and founders of Pickens county. I have concluded that either Caroline or Allen or both were slaves of the Bowen family. I have just reached the "Brick Wall" with these two. Any help would be great!

    3. I am at a disadvantage as I received an e-mail from Ancestry.com with your name in the subject line, as sent by a member of Ancestry sharing the 1870 census of George W. Bowen, Phebe, Raynham, in that I cannot reply to that e-mail and say thank you. Nor could I search the Member List by name to contact you that way through Ancestry.com. I do have the 1870 census you sent, only reason I discount it as my George & Phoebe, is the daughter Evelina, b. 1867. Dora Etta Bowen, daughter of George W. & Phoebe is born 1867, per Dora Etta's birth cert as Doraetta. The only possibility I can see at this point, is her name may have been Doraetta Evelina Bowen...however in all my research, I have never seen Dora referred to Evelina. The other matches are Raynham and this 1870 George W. works with shoes too. I thank you very much and if I can return the favor, please let me know. -- Regards, D.R. 2. Doc
    3. Hello List Members, I am looking for any information on the following Bowen line and connecting to George W's siblings and parents. George W. Bowen, b. abt. 1830, MA, d. bef. 1900 Phebe A. Gacher or Fisher, b. abt. 1846, Taunton, Bristol Co., MA. d. aft. 1900 Children: Edward Frances Bowen, b. abt. 1865, MA *Doraetta Bowen* (great grandmother) b. 27 Apr 1867, Foxborough, MA, d. 17 Mar 1922, Santa Clara Co., CA age 16, m. Oscar A. Crocker, 9 Nov 1883, Raynham, MA age 24, m. Roland Leonard, 1891, Norton, MA age 33, m. Anthony D. Perry, 16 Sep 1900, Providence, RI (great grandfather) Hiram E. Bowen, b. abt. 1868, MA Harriet E. Bowen, b. abt. 1871, MA Cyrus A. Bowen, b. abt. 1877, MA Herbert A. Bowen, b. Sep 1879, MA I have found George/George W. in the 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, as Free Colored Persons, Mulatto and Black, this is not my Bowen line. The 1870 and 1880 census, is my Bowen line. George W. Bowen, m. abt. 1864, Phoebe/Phebe/Febe Gacher/Fisher, as their first born is1865. The name Fisher came from a person who looked at records and that Gacher looked like Fisher/Fischer. I have Dora Etta's birth cert <http://drdocyoung.com/_images/cardoso/bowen/1867-Dora-Bowen-birth-cert-MA.jpg>. http://drdocyoung.com/_images/cardoso/bowen/1867-Dora-Bowen-birth-cert-MA.jpg George mainly has lived in Raynham, Bristol Co. and appears to have died before 1900, as I have in the 1900 census Phebe, widowed, with son Cyrus A. Bowen, Taunton. My block wall is finding George in 1860 & 1870...I feel I have George in 1850, with a Hiram (1807) & Philena Bowen (1816), Raynham, MA. I am not sure this is his father/parents. I do have access to the Census, so I shall continue to seek and find George Bowen in the 1860 & 1870 census. Dora Etta is born Foxboro/Foxborough Phoebe Gacher/Fisher, is born Taunton Dora Etta marries in Raynham, Norton and Providence. Bowen's from the census found live in Raynham Phoebe Bowen is in Taunton 1900. And as with many stories told, unknown if one Bowen is Native American in this line. I hope I covered everything. And assistance in piecing George back in time, learning of his parents is extremely appreciative and if need be, I can compensate. -- Regards, D.R.
