    2. I am still actively researching by g-g-grandfather, John Bowen, b: 1790 in either MA or ME. He married in 1815 in VT to Sylvia ROSE, moved into NY and lived in Ostego, Oswego and Onondaga counties and then by 1836 or so into Michigan where he died in 1841. Hard to break down this brick wall of who his parents and siblings where. Thanks - JoAnn

    3. My mother had an Uncle named Dickey Bowen. I have often wondered where his parents got that name. Now I see on Google Earth that there is an area called Dickey Island just east of Fayetteville, TN. Dickey Island is an area surrounded by a big bend in the river. I can't help but wonder if that was not the inspiration for his name. _____________ Rik Rasmussen

    2. I am active... well, I'm at a brick wall and only search from time to time thinking some information might become available. I have a Stephen Bowen from 1850 census living in Atlanta, DeKalb County, GA indicating he was born in SC in 1805. Married to a Temperance Kelly. Next to him in the same census is Hiram Bowen born in SC in 1798. Both men are carpenters. I am assuming they are brothers. So I am stuck at this point and can't find ancestors for these two men.
