They are accepting autosomal DNA as well as Y chromosome DNA, so you don't need to have a living Bowe male to test. If you want to participate, you'd order a Family Finder autosomal test at FTDNA through this project. The Family Finder test will cover autosomal DNA. It could be useful to find other relatives descending from William and/or Richard (convicts), as well as help find matches to other Bowe lines back in Ireland with descendants who've taken this test. There are some from the Freshford area.
