If you want to explore the Bowe line using DNA, you will need a male who still has Bowe as his last name. The DNA tested is from the Y chromosome that is passed from father to son. The surname tags along with it over the generations from father to son. So your husband's Y chromosome would carry the markers of his own surname rather than Bowe.
