(Edward, Edward, Samuel, Alexander of Middletown CT) Edward and Ruth Hubbard Bowe were originally from Middletown, and I have seen the tombstones of both their fathers in the old Farm Hill Cemetery there. Edward has a pension file for service in the Revolution. Edward and Ruth had Edward IV, Ruth, Abner(mine), Daniel, and Oliver H.. Oliver H Bowe b 1797 married Thursa Eaton and had Mary E., James E. b. 1832, Phoebe, Sally Ann, Emily A., Theressa. James E. Bowe I have only sketchy info: James had at least three children from wife Maria ___. He died in the Civil war at Salem Church, VA May 3, 1863. I have not pursued a civil war pension file from the US Archives, but that would be great if it exists. They had Charles 1857, Dolphinia 1859. Herbert L 1860. It really looks like you have the same James in your query. The repetition of the name Edward in his children is highly significant. I'll see if I can find more info about this. My ancestor Abner Bowe m Waite Rhodes Lippitt first, and went west to Genesee Co NY and then to Trumbull Co Ohio. about 1830. When Waite died he married Sally Bissell, daughter of Orange Bissell and Sally Guild. Abner and Sally are buried in Geneva, Ohio.
