Author: brendanwhite8 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bowe/361.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am the great great grandson of Mary Bowe from KIlgobinet and I live a short distance from there. It is very likely that Thomas P. and Mary Bowe were brother and sister as she was born in 1830s or 40s I dont have the exact date to hand but can find out if needed. They were the only family of Bowes in the immediate area. There are still Bowes living in the Dungarvan Kilgobinet area. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm not sure if your message was in reply to mine at http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.bowe/143.2.2.2/mb.ashx....hard to tell by the way the board is set up if you were replying to me or someone else. I only research Bowe's as they relate to my Wallace family, so I wouldn't need anything on Hattie's husband Leb's parents or siblings. I was just trying to find out if anyone had anything on Hattie Wallace-Bowe's father's marriages. Just wanted to clarify again what it was I was asking in case there was any confusion. I am looking for information on my Great Grandmother Mary Warren from Cat Island. She more than likely is related to your Great Grand Mother Victoria Warren. The tale we have on Mary is that her father ? Warren was a French Canadian who came to Cat Island to setup and run the Railroad that took Sisal from the plantation to the dock. Eventually the railroad was not needed and Warren left the Bahamas and his many mulatto children. Mary moved to Nassau. She had seven children with my Great Grandfather. My Father knew his grandmother but not her story. Would really love to know more about her. Hope you can help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I administer the Bowes One-Name Study and DNA Project. We have a large spreadsheeet of Irish Bowe/s records (most Irish Bowes were once Bowe), over 3500, and a growing database of family files. Unfortunately I couldn't find your Timothy in either, but they're both growing and I thought I'd let you know about the project. We have an active facebook community at https://www.facebook.com/bowesonenamestudy if you're on facebook. Feel free to post to the timeline. The one-name study and DNA project (and facebook page) cover the surname worldwide, not just the Irish. Most Irish Bowe/s are from Kilkenny, Tipperary and Laois, but we have descendants emerging from Wicklow as well. 1. [BOWE] Prosper Bowe, b. 1793 CT; d. 1891 MN
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: KathyHudson89 Surnames: Bowe, Batcheller, Batchelder, Bachellor, Wood, Fry, Fox, Chase, Durant Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bowe/378/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Prosper Bowe, b. 1793, Hartford co., CT, married Lois Batcheller (Batchelder, Bachellor and other similar spellings) in Lyme, Jefferson county, NY in 1825. Prosper Bowe had lived in Lyme with his parents, Elijah and Betsy Bowe, since at least 1820, but it is unclear how long Lois lived there because the names of her parents are not known. Lois and Prosper had at least eight children, all born in Lyme: Parthenia Maria Bowe, b. 1826, married Simeon Wood; died 1854 Frances A. Bowe, b. 1828, married Warren Fry in 1848; in Sheboygan, WI in 1860 Lucinda M. Bowe, b. 1830 Lois Ann Bowe (my ancestor), b. 29 Oct 1832, married Loren Fox; died 1915 Yates co., NY Oliver Paul Bowe, b. 1834, married Frances Chase; died 1919 in Minneapolis, MN Addison A. Bowe, b. 1836 Mary E.Bowe, b. 1841, died in Sheboyban, WI in 1867 William H. Bowe, b. 1843, married Angeline Durant; died 1920 in Pennsylvania. Most of the family left Lyme in 1855 and relocated in Lyndon, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Lois died in 1859 and is buried in Waldo, Sheboygan, WI. I have most of Prosper's lineage going back to the emigrant ancestor of his line, but very little about Lois. The few facts known about her come from the 1850 census, the only one in which she appeared by name, a distant cousin in MN and a couple death records of her children which confirm her maiden name but reveal nothing else. Any clues about her parents and/or where she was born will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
