Emmitt's wife Joyce M. Thompson is the daughter of Edith Vivian Bowe who is the daughter of Thomas Henry Bowe and Thomas Henry is the son of William Robert & Trinvilla - according to the information from Emmitt. A lot of information on the Bowe family can be found in the Big Sandy New at the Library. My relationship to the Bowe Family is: William Hargis Bowe/Sarah Ann Akers>Andrew Jackson Bowe/Margaret Webb>James Apperson Bowe, Sr/Dora Layne>Anne Thornton Bowe/Theodore E. Chadwick>Charles C. Chadwick (my deceased husband)/Naomi (This line is documented in the Bible of James Apperson Bowe, Sr. and Dora Layne). There was a lenghty article "History of the Community Church" published in June, 1940, about Jim Son Bowe (James Apperson Bowe, Sr.) and his help in getting the Wheelwright Methodist Church, Wheelwright, KY built and where he was the minister for several years. There is a brass plate with the inscription "Son Bowe Chapel" over the entrance of the church. His daughter Margaret Bowe Conley played the piano and organ for the church for many years until she moved to Paintsville to be near her daughter. She was also the Bellringer! Margaret died July 11, 2005 just before her 93rd birthday on July 13th - the day of her services and burial was conducted on July 13, 20! 05. All the information I found in the beginning had the spelling of Bow; it was later on when the e was added.

I went to the site of uncle toms the bowe family farm and went to the grave yard. the tombstone has william t. bowe buried next to trinvilla bowe maiden name was bradley her parents were some of the original settlers of lawrence county ky. i found a picture of them in a book at the ashland ky library. also i have been able to trace her family all the back to the 40ad time period. and there were knights and royality in her family but since i am a bowe i would like to find out our orgin. They all are buried at the bowe family grave yard on the hill of the bowe family farm in lousia ky. i am sure it is the same family but am confused as to who william robert bowe is I have a picture of someone who is a bowe in a civial war uniform it was in my great aunt vickey,s box of things when she passed away at the age of 99 in lousia ky resthome. His reason for this request was as follows: In December, 1863 while on duty at Louisa, KY he contracted measles and was sent to the hospital at Ashland, KY. Soon after he took a relapse which resulted in Dropsy of the Abdomen, and this finally settled into Kidney disease upon which latter he basis his present claim. He was married by J.A. Abbott at Wm Bradley's residence and witnessed by A.J. Caperton. Cause of Death: Kidney Infection Military service: Bet. September 06, 1862 - September 15, 1865, he was a Pvt. in the 39th KY Infantry, Company A. His commanding officer was Capt. John B. Auxier. William enlisted at Peach Orchard, KY and mustered out at Louisville, KY. Occupation: Farmer William Hargis Bowe: Kentucky 39th Infantry: Bowe, Hargis, Private Company A He enlisted as a private in Company A 39th Kentucky Reg. at Floyd Co KY on 6 Sept 1862 and mustered out on Sept 15 1865. He got a disibility pension of $4.00 per month after several tries and affiidavits. He claimed to have gotten a hernia while carrying a load of fire wood. One affidavit list a Robert Bowe age 28, (May 1880 date of affidavit) who claims to be a son of Hargis. On one surgeons report of June 3 1874 he is listed as age 56, meaning he was born about 1818; height 5-91/2; weight 160; complexion dark. Hargis died 1 Aug 1880 leaving no widow.
