My gg gf was a blonde man, his daugter dark, married a dark haired man, yet had a blonde daughter, who in turn has passed it down two more generations. Their blonde hair and vivid blue eyes make them stand out in our crowd, for sure. This is Thomas Bowe I speak of, born 1892 in Ireland, likely Kilkenny or Tipperary, his father was John Bowe born about 1858.

I’m Edward Bowe from Philadelphia. I’m 29 years old and have lived her all my life. My grandmom once spoke of my grandfather being in the war, but she never said much about him. I believe is name was Marvin though. But I’m not sure. He did have a brother named William, from what I remember.

I will look up what I have learned and try to share what I do know. Like I mentioned....Erie Bowe was married to Albert Burgess Compton in Louisa, Lawrence Co., KY in ...she later died of TB (tuberculosis: per her death certificate). Thomas Bowe and Julia Castle were her parents. Julia Castle was sister to George Harrison "Harry" Castle who was married to Stella P. Compton b. 1879 Ulysses Creek, Lawrence Co., KY. Stella P. Compton Castle was oldest sister to Albert Burges Compton (spouse of Erie Bowe). Burgess was in the Army when Erie died. Burgess and Stella were siblings to my grandfather Wilson "aka William" Perry Compton, Jr., b. 1886. The Compton's, Castle's, and Bowe's all lived within close proximity to each other in the Ulysses/ Charley/Georges Creek area of Lawrecene Co., KY....from what I understand, the old homeplace of Stella and Harry Castle still stands... Erie and her brother are buried beside each other in the Castle Family Cemetery, but I cannot currently remember where that is. It is in my notes. I am going by memory, as I am in a hurry....I will try to elaborate more, later.. Erie Bowe and Albert Burgess Compton had no children together. Sandi

A young girl from Donegal leaves home to find work among the bright lights of London. She comes home 6 months later and steps out of a taxi wearing a full-length mink coat. "Begorrah, Coleen," says her mother. "Tis a lovely soft coat yer wearin' an' it looks so expensive. Where did ye get that?" Colleen replies, "Sure now, I won it at the bingo. Don't they have wonderful prizes in London." When the weekend's over, Colleen returns to the bright lights, but she's back to visit her mom a few months later. This time, when she steps out of the taxi, she's wearing a beautiful gold wristwatch and a large diamond ring. Same exchange with Mom............same "Won it at bingo!" Then Colleen returns to the bright lights again. A few months later, she's back again. And this time she's sporting a beautiful emerald and diamond necklace with matching bracelet and earrings. She hands her mother 1,000 pounds and explains that she won it all in bingo. Then she asks her Mom to run her a bath as she need to freshen up. Her Mom draws the bath while Colleen gets undressed in her bedroom, but when she gets to the washroom, there's only a quarter inch of hot water in the bathtub. Colleen, a wee bit peeved at her Mom being so cheap with the hot water after being handed 1,000 pounds, calls downstairs, "Mom! Sure now didn't I ask you to run me a bath? There's only a quarter inch of water in the tub!" "Indeed there is, me darlin" replies her Mom. "But we don't want ye gettin' yer bingo card wet now, do we?"
