Born in Cambridge on June 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Gerald T. and Lydia M. (Heffernan) Bowe. Patrick was raised and educated in Dorchester, graduating from Boston College High School. He soon enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return home, he attended Northeastern University where he graduated with a degree in Engineering. Patrick and Barbara (Cunningham) married in 1959 and moved to Acton where together they raised their children. He worked for many years at Digital Equipment in Maynard as an Engineer. He looked forward to every Red Sox game and attended many at Fenway Park, and also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots. Patrick enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, going to the race track, and playing the lottery. Family however was the center of his life, he cherished the time with his devoted children and caring grandchildren, and he had a special bond with each one. Whenever he saw a family member in need, he was the first to offer help in any way he could. Where have you found Prosper referred to Oliver Prosper Bowe? I have not found anything like that, nor have I found even a hint of a birth record anywhere in CT for him. I can't remember whether or not we communicated about Find-a-grave but I see that you linked William to his parents memorials that I made. The woman who originally made Lois's also checked the vital records in Sheboygan county, WI but found nothing on Bowe or Batcheller. Although I did not find a cemetery record for Prosper, I made a memorial for him in this cemetery because it seems logical that he would be buried with Lois; his obit, as you know, states that his remains were taken to Sheboygan for burial. Still looking for VT info. Kathy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. They are accepting autosomal DNA as well as Y chromosome DNA, so you don't need to have a living Bowe male to test. If you want to participate, you'd order a Family Finder autosomal test at FTDNA through this project. The Family Finder test will cover autosomal DNA. It could be useful to find other relatives descending from William and/or Richard (convicts), as well as help find matches to other Bowe lines back in Ireland with descendants who've taken this test. Author: KathleenWuerth Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bowe/377.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am descended from John Bowe (b.1808 we believe in Lisdowney Parish, County Kilkenny, d.1854 Monday Creek, Perry County, OH). Margaret is the youngest sibling and the only one for whom I have been able to find a baptismal/birth record. RootsIreland.ie has her baptismal record showing her baptism on 3 Oct 1819. It seems that it was the practice to baptize babies the day after their birth, probably reflecting high infant mortality. The family lived in Ballyconra, Lisdowney Parish, County Kilkenny. The sponsors were Silvester Walsh and Elenor Bergin. I also found their father Laurence Bowe in the 1830 Tithe Applotment Books owning 2nd class property in Ballyconra, Aharney Parish, County Kilkenny with a tithe of 2 schillings 5 pence. My family lore says that Laurence Bowe came from England and that we are related to some distant minor English lord, but I can't find any evidence of that. It may be that the lord is Lord Symond Fiske from an English branch of my tree. I w! ill have to check into the Bowe website mentioned above. Author: Bowesetal Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bowe/361.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Joseph! Just to clarify for others in this message thread, the Bowe of "The Glen" in Waterford City are different from the Kilgobnet Bowe, at least as far as I know. (Does anyone know different?) The ones in Waterford City were involved, as you know, in the pig trade, at least since 1860. I've wondered if the Kilbognet Bowe were in the family too and supplying to the pig trade. Just a theory. Joseph I have a partial tree for this Waterford City family, a line from Ballybricken that starts with a Michael Bowe, believed born in Callan, Kilkenny. He has a son Daniel who married Elizabeth Caulfield in 1860. The Caulfield family was in the pig business and got Daniel's sons involved. At least that's how a descendent knows it. They have sons Nicholas, Paul, Gabriel and Patrick, and a daughter Elizabeth? Seeing that your Thomas' first son is named Michael, I'm guessing he and Daniel were brothers. On the other hand, there is a Thomas Bowe, baptised 1833 like yours, in Stradbally, Waterford, to James Bowe and *Bridget Ryan.* Is it possible the Bridget Ryan you have as Thomas' first wife is his mother? In 1834 another Thomas Bowe baptised in Kill to a James Bowe, wife not recorded. 1833 a Thomas Bowe marries a Catherine Carroll in Tramore. 1834 a Thomas Bowe appears in the Tithe Applotment Books in Stradbally, Waterford. These names were so common that these could be different families, but the Bridget Ryan wife caught my eye after looking at your tree. The locations are all also between Waterford City and Dungarven/Kilgobnet. Nice to have that photo ID'd. Thanks! I have some records on the Glen Bowe that you're probably already aware of here https://sites.google.com/site/bowessurnames/records/ireland/-criminals (I'm moving my old site to this location). For some reason, one says 32 Glen, the other 33 Glen. I supposed he could've moved from 1877-1894. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
