Hello, It appears that my Bowdens came to the U.S. in the mid 1700s. The reason I have written is because so many of the names are familiar here. Thomas Bowden is rarely seen in records before that date. He is seen in the Carolinas by some unofficial accounts as being born in 1793. William is a prominent name in the family in fact the eldest child was named William and a later child had William as his middle name. One of the offspring was Benjamin Bowden (sometimes spelled Bowdon) who remarried when his wife died. He married a much younger woman and they had twins. One of the twins was named Irene. There is also a Willis. Karen
Karen, I do not have a full membership with Ancestry so an invite would be most helpful to see what you have listed. I go to the State Library to access info but at home I am limited to my own info. Our Bowden connection may be way up the line. Can you tell me where they originated from in Europe and what nationality they are? My grandmother said French but not sure. My Benjamin J Bowden married Ann Bowles and they had 7 children, their son William A was my GG grandfather. I don't see two marriages but I don't have the birth dates for any of the other children so not sure about twins. I would greatly appreciate a guest invite to see if I can see your tree at home. I will be having shoulder surgery in a week so hope to spend some time on the site during my recovery.
