That technique is very valid. I've used it for years with great success. Alternatively simply Google the specific web page I'm looking for. Often the owner retains the old Web site name as much as possible. Therefore a site with a name like http://www.goodplace.com/familyinfofiles/ might be found by Googling "familyinfofiles", "goodplace", or "goodplace.com".
