Haven't posted on this list in a great while so thought I would. My reason for subscribing is related to my gg-grandmother, Mary Jane BOWDEN (also spelt many different ways: BOUGHDEN, etc.). She was born in 1843 and married to Jonathan SILVERTHORN in 1858 (age 15?) I have not found any marriage record for the two of them, but it is a varient of her maiden name that is used in many references I have. What's confusing still is that there IS a marriage record for a Jonathan Silverthorn & Mary PANTIN for this same year and locale. So, perhaps all my relatives were wrong and they have been pursueing a wrong maiden name all these years, or totally mispronouncing.
