This is a transcription of John Bowdon's will. There is supposed to be a will for Judith 11 Sep 1827 - Warren Co., N. C.. I have not seen it, however. I would be interested in a transcription of it if anyone is able or perhaps a copy to transcribe myself. debra Page 41 - Book 30 Warren Co NC 2 Jan 1823 In the name of God Amen- I John Bowdon of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina being old, weak, and sick, but of perfect sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament, surely revoking all and every former one. In the fist place it is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid, In the second place I lend unto my beloved wife Judith Bowdon that part of my lands which lie on the South side of Fishing "Creek" which includes my dwelling house for and during her natural life, and it is my will that on her death my Grandson James Cooper inherit the same for and during his natural life and should he die leaving no lawful sons it is my will that the land above mentioned loaned to my wife go to my son John Bowden to his heirs and assigns forever. Thirdly, it is my will and desire that my son John have and I herto give him the balance of my land that is all which lies on the North of Fishing Creek including the plantation on which he lives, and it is further my will and desire that my wife have two beds and furniture one work horse, two cows and calves, a sow and pigs, and that when the division of my personal and perishable property takes place , as I shall here after direct, that she have a childs part exclusive of one years provision.- Fourthly it is my will and desire among my children and the representatives of such of them who are dead, in such manners at such time and order such restrictions as I shall mention viz to each living child, one part to the children of each of my daughters who are dead, one part and as to the part which may fall to my daughter Fanny Williams, I only mean it as a loan for her support during her life and that at her death that it be equally divided among all her children and that the division of my property except my land to take place the ensueing fall provided I die before that time if not immediately after my death as to the land, I wish it to stand divided whenever I die, and it is my will that the division of my negroes may be made between my wife, my children, and my grand children aggreeable to this will without a Sale of them or any of them, and it is my will and desire that my friend Doctor Joseph L. Hawkins and Solomon Green make the above dicision of my property and if either or both die or ?? to act, that the Court appoint so many others as they may think proper to act in their stead, - and lastly it is my will and desire that my friend William Brown act as my Executor, and I hereby appoint and Constitute him as such- In writing of all which I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal and declare it to be my last will and testament of the ??
