Funeral services for Joseph Harold Bowden 80, who died Saturday, Oct 21, 2000 will be held Tues at 10 AM in George H. Hewell and Son Northside Funeral Home with Rev. James W. Curtis officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Mon from 4-6 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Bowden was a native of Jacksonville (FL) and a lifeling resident. He married Frances M. Bowden in 1940 at the age of 20. In 1941 at the age of 21 he joined the Navy, and served until the end of WWII as a Chief Petty Officer. He worked with the City of Jacksonville in the public works dept for 20 years and upon his retirement in 1960, he and his wife Frances moved to Ft. George Island. He was an active member and past president of Heckscher Drive Community Club. In 1994 at Heckscher Drive Baptist Church he accepted the lord and has been a faithful member. Joe was known and loved by all his family and wonderful friends who loved and visited him faithfully during his illness. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Frances M. Bowden; a brother-in-law, Eugene Bradley; aniece, Dorothy Dedmon(Jimmy); a newphew David Bowden; great nephew, Frank Dedmon; first cousins Roland Haines (Mary) and Dan Haines (Dorothy).
