    1. Re: [BOWDEN] Samuel d. 1841 Shelby Co., AL/ Colonel James Simeon Bowdon
    2. Just a note for study purposes. I don't think that James, b. abt. 1759, was the son of Travis. If you check the dates -- it seems he was more likely a brother to Travis -- and they both were sons of William. Travis did have a son, William, but this is the next generation on down. Would be interested in hearing what others think. Also, do you have any proof that Priscilla Williams was the dau. of Charles Williams and Elizabeth Abernathy? I know she was the dau. of Charles -- but haven't been able to verify his wife's name. Look forward to hearing more from all of you. Ardie In a message dated 12/1/2006 11:43:35 A.M. James Bowden was the son of Travis Bowdon and wife unknown. Would you mind telling us more about what links James b. abt 1759 to Travis? I am not from James's line but do descend from Travis via his son William b. 1773 who married Nancy Wiggins and am trying to keep them all straight. I have been the recipient of other Bowdoin/Bowdon/Bowden research that places Colonel James Simeon Bowdon b. 6 Apr 1775 in Granville Co., NC who married Mary Bradford as the son of Travis Bowdon and wife unknown (some say Pennelopy). Your help is much appreciated.
