    3. Hi Ian, >I have a brick wall names Elizabeth BOWDEN. I know very little about her, >so don't expect miracles - but any help with this line would be greatly >appreciated. > >Elizabeth BOWDEN; born & died unknown, married John DENNIS in 1743 at >Berrynarbor, Barnstaple, Devon, England. John, born in 1718, also came from >Berrynarbor. They had at least one child; a daughter Elizabeth DENNIS who >was born in 1744. She married John HARRIS (born 1734) in 1765 ay >Berrynarbor. Not sure if you've tried this before but a quick search on the IGI website produces a few possibilities. Go to this search page: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_I GI.asp&clear_form=true I entered the name Elizabeth Bowden Based on a marriage year of 1743 and assuming she'd be at least 16yrs old at the time, giving a latest starting point of 1727, I entered a birth date of 1717 +/- 10 years. British Isles as the region, England as the country, Devon as the county. That produced 79 results, the first few of which included references to an Elizabeth Bowden christened in Berrynarbor. As with all IGI generated results, they need to be treated cautiously because there are a significant number of poor transcriptions from original records and it is always best to try and seek out an image of the original document to allow yourself the opportunity to verify the data. Hope this helps a wee bit and that your search for a way round the brick wall is successful. Best regards and a Happy 2010 to you and yours. Jim T Troon Scotland
