This list isn't very active so I will enter my request again. Does anyone have any information on the Bowdens of Cumberland county, NC? Mainly Colonel Bowden, Major Bowden, Sarah Bowden, Nancy Bowden and Dolly Southerland Bowden? These are all somehow related to my Wright family. Sarah and Nancy and one other sister were married to Hiram Wright and Major and Colonel Bowden went the bonds for him. This was in the mid 1800's. Anyone able to help me with these? Margaret http://www.youravon.com/msessions I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free God Bless the USA. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.

Hello Listers/Possible Cousins, I am searching for information on my Great Great Grandmother, Tabitha E. Bowden b. 1875 in Coosa County Alabama. She at some point married a Morris. I only know that she must have married a Morris because on her marriage records to my Great Great Grandfather, Absolem/Abner B. Echols b. early 1870-73, she was Tabitha E. Morris. Furthermore, she had a son named Thomas Morris born approximately in the early 1890s. Thomas Morris was in the 1900 Census as a stepson to my Great Great Grandfather. I am hoping that by finding out where she either married, divorced or was widowed at will lead me to more information on my family line. I know she married my Great Great Grandfather in Troup County Georgia but I have checked all Census years and there is no record of any other family members in that County so they must have traveled to Troup for the marriage from another location and I can't seem to find where. Is there anyone out there that can help me? I would greatly appreciat! e any and all assistance in this matter. porkchop@troycable.net (Wanda Knottsporkchop@troycable.net (Wanda Knotts)
Hi - this is a reposting for my gggrandfather - Solomon Bowden. I know he was born Feb. 26, 1821 in Kingskerswell Parish, Devon and died Oct. 5,1895 in St. John's. I believe his parents were Robert Bowden and Mary Ann Bowden also from Devon. I am trying to track down Robert and Mary Ann - Solomon had other siblings including Frederick Edwin born 1818, and William and Mary Ann (birthdates unknown). I would like to be able to continue searching my Bowden roots but I am stuck and Robert and Mary Ann Bowden - any help would be appreciated. Regards from Cape Breton - Valerie Barrett.
well, first of all regarding Hiram Wright, I think he was a rascal. :P He married 3 sisters, the Bowden girls I call them. The first one, Sarah, being my ggggrandmother. He married her in 1840 and apparently she died about 5 years later and he married another sister, she died, apparently and he married the youngest sister. I guess to take care of the children. I wish we could go back and find their reasons for doing some of the things they did. I know he was in the Home Guard during the CW but did not qualify for a pension since it wasn't a paying position. After he married the last sister I lost track of him. I know his daughter, Charity married Edward Robert Newell in 1863 and when he returned from the POW camp they left and ventured to TX and stayed there a few years and then came across the Gulf of Mexico to Marco Island, FL and Charity went back, in the 20's to live with their eldest son, Ashford and she died in NC. Edward died in Chattahoochee, FL in the insane asylum. But, do not know, and cannot seem to trace ol Hiram Wright to see what happened to him. I'm going to have to, if they have records, write to the records place in NC and see if they have a death record for him but I don't know what year he died, nor who his parents were, but guess that might be a good way to find out. I know they do not have birth records for the 1820' when he was probably born. I'm also trying to trace the Bowden family now too, but there isn't much activity on the Bowden list. Sarah had brothers, I believe them to be brothers, Major and Colonel Bowden as they signed the bonds for Hiram to marry their sisters or nieces, whichever, and he signed bonds for them. But, there is no information on these bonds telling who parents were or anything. At least none that I can find. I know, I rambled on, but hopefully something might ring a bell to point me where they are.. This is virtually all I know about Hiram Wright and Charity Ann Wright Newell, his daughter. There doesn't seem to be much traffic on this list or else I'm not getting them. I am searching for Bowdens who resided in Cumberland County in the mid 19th century, particularly Colonel Bowden, Major Bowden, Sarah, Nancy and one other sister. The 3 sisters married Hiram Wright, the first one, Sarah, married him ca 1840 and the last one ca 1863. I hope someone has these folks in their trees. Colonel and Major are names, not ranks. I am searching for information on the above Bowdens. They were the male relatives of Sarah, Elizabeth and Nancy Bowden who married Hiram Wright. I believe there was also James Bowden who may have been the father of these siblings. I know the girls were sisters, but not sure what part Colonel and Major Bowden (their given names) were, whether they were brothers or uncles. These Bowdens were in Cumberland County, NC in the early 1800's to at least 1840 when Sarah married Hiram Wright and in 1842 became the parents of Charity Ann Wright, my gggrandmother. It was pointed out to me that I had neglected to mention where Woodrow Wilson BOWDEN and Anne E. SEWALL were married and/or came from. Anne and her family lived in York, ME, as had their ancestors since approximately 1708 when Samuel, Nicholas and Hannah, three of John Sewall and Hannah Fessenden's children, left the original Sewall settlement in Newbury, MA. I would guess that they were married in York. I don't know whether or not the BOWDENs were also long time residents of ME. I do find an Armenino H.(?) with wife Marcia A. and son Fred H. age 26 and single in the 1900 census. Allowing for the discrepancy in year of marriage and possible age difference between the bride and groom this Fred could conceivably have been Woodrow's father (even, in fact, if Fred married in 1901).

Woodrow Wilson BOWDEN married Anne E. Sewall in 1941 or 1947 (the dates differ in the two different sources of my information). The only other thing I know about him is that his father's name was Fred. Anne was the grandaughter of my grandfather's oldest sibling (Joseph Alby SEWALL m. Jane Annie MUCHMORE; they had at least one son, Albert Edward 1871-1942, who married Eliza J. ABERNATHY, 1861-1947). Anne E., b. 1914, was the daughter of Albert Edward and Eliza. Anyone know anything about them?
JAMES BOWDEN was born Abt 1805 in Temple, Bristol, according to details given in the 1851 and 1881 census. He married FRANCES BABB 20th December 1826 in Bedminster Old Church, Bristol. He had 10 children, and I have details on descendents of one daughter in Australia, and a son in Canada, besides my family from another daughter. The Temple records are very poor quality, and non existent for the years that matter to me. I would appreciate any info at all on James.
