    3. Thank you *so much*, I really had no idea where to look, not even knowing for sure where he was born. And it's clear from the private information that it's the right person. I'm just boggled at the internet, I had no idea I could even get as far as this. I don't want to make you do a lot of work for me, I'm very grateful for what you've done so far, and the rest backchannel. :) Mary --- "Sydney H. Stephens" <res06exy@gte.net> wrote: From: "Sydney H. 1. Georgia Bowdens
    2. My Bowdens are in Georgia. Started out in Franklin Co, the part that later became Banks. Several moved to Oconee Co. One branch went to Texas and others scattered through out Georgia. The patriarch of our branch is James Griffith Bowden born March 27, 1801 in either NC or VA and died in Homer, Banks CO. Georgia in 1892.HIs children were: Lorenzo, Alford Benjamin, Alanson Griffith, George Warren, Cynthia Caroline, Samuel Leland, Reuben Nelson, William P. and James Hayne. I should mention that James Griffith Bowden's parents were Benjamin Bowden (b. abt. 1790) and Nancy Roach. If any of these names ring a bell-just let me know and maybe we can share-- Stephanie Bradley _Sbrad1249@aol.com_ (mailto:Sbrad1249@aol.com)

    2. William Silverthorn
    3. Haven't posted on this list in a great while so thought I would. My reason for subscribing is related to my gg-grandmother, Mary Jane BOWDEN (also spelt many different ways: BOUGHDEN, etc.). She was born in 1843 and married to Jonathan SILVERTHORN in 1858 (age 15?) I have not found any marriage record for the two of them, but it is a varient of her maiden name that is used in many references I have. What's confusing still is that there IS a marriage record for a Jonathan Silverthorn & Mary PANTIN for this same year and locale. So, perhaps all my relatives were wrong and they have been pursueing a wrong maiden name all these years, or totally mispronouncing. Anyway, much more data on this brickwall of mine, can be found at my online data for this family: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=agthorn&id=I147 I thank any and all assist on this. Please feel free to email me directly at silverthorn(AT)pobox.com (replace the middle with @ of course). William

    3. Hello P Taylor and Fellow-Listers: Thank you for your concerns re taglines. Thank you and your fellow-listers for keeping the List alive! Though in its experimental stage, I only hope to let Listers know how grateful and thankful I am for their sharing of their 'brick walls', querys, discoveries, etc., towards BOWDEN [and variants] mailing list. And that is where 'taglines' come into play. Up until now, taglines is used by admins really for whatever they choose - RW's guidelines, of course. And I would like to use the taglines, along with subscribers of the List to use, as a 'remembrance' - "...to remember those that have gone on afore us." Taglines will only be seen by subscribers of BOWDEN-L list [*not* BOWDEN-D subscribers]. Only when replying/responding to the List are you able to get/see a tagline. I wish to post extracts of Listers' messages from the previous month onto the new month. I'd like also to post interesting snippets re BOWDEN genealogy, research, history, laughs, etc., to encourage subscriber enrollment and/or to keep subscriber interests. I'd like to kiss those lurkers, who have been with this List tho' silently but bravely, and let them know I was one of them till me own Mum past away - "...to remember those who have gone on afore us." And if I still am not making myself clear - Be patient and I will reply privately, if need be. Good Hunting ALL. Manaia [List Admin BOWDEN] pamakay@entermail.net wrote: I don't really understand your message about taglines but I notice that my recent post was listed in both of your messages re: taglines. Did I do something wrong when I posted? I've never seen a message like this from any of the other surname lists I subscribe to. 1. Richard Bowden HALL
    2. Peter Wood
    3. Hello List, I am a new subscriber to this list though on several other rootsweb lists. The above individual was baptised, aged 1, the 22 Dec 1813 at St Andrews, Plymouth, Devon. He was the son of George HALL and Ann. I wonder whether it is possible that Ann's maiden name was BOWDEN. I know that a lot of Devon parishes are not on the IGI and I can't see any sign of the marriage or any other children. RBH was in London in 1837 when he married Mary Ann MARGETSON at St Margaret's Westminster. Their daughter, Juliana, married my Gt Grandfather, William Henry WOOD. Does anyone recognise a connection to the family? Many thanks, Peter Wood Flitwick, Bedfordshire
