I would say that there probably is a connection but it is likely to be back in Ireland a long time ago and finding records back then is difficult or impossible. The only information my family had was that her name was Mary Bourke and she married Thomas McShea in Newport, County Mayo, Ireland. She would have been born somewhere around the late 1700's. The other information we have is that she was an ancestor of General Bourke of Carrowkeep Castle, Parish of Glen Hest, Newport, Ireland. He was born in Ireland in 1866- i'm still trying to find out where. I am thinking he was possibly born in Tipperary (maybe Thurles) but also have indications of County Mayo. According to his death certificate his father's name was Tobias J and his mother's name was Mary. He immigrated to the US and was in Connecticut for a time and then moved to Brooklyn, NY. His first wife was Mary Doyle - i'm not sure if they were married in Ireland or the US. She died in childbirth around 1896 giving birth to my grandfather Timothy Thomas and his twin George Patrick.
