Subject: [BOTTORFF] Clell Bottorff family {The next child was Earl Lewis Bottorff, age 2. He was adopted by the Albert Bond family. The 1930 Iowa census lists Albert Bond, his wife Millie, and Earl Bond, age 7, living in Jackson, Keokuk, County.) Earl is still living. He lives in Dayton, Ohio. I spoke to him on the phone several months ago. He is in a nursing home and suffers from dementia. His daughter, Peggy Bond, lives nearby. She knows very little about the family since Earl went to work one day when she was just 5 months old, and he never returned. When Peggy was grown and had children of her own she wanted her children to know their grandfather. She started a search through Social Security and located him. She wrote to him, and he moved to Dayton to be near her. He lived with her until recently. Albert Bond b c 1882 OH s/oJOhn H Bond + margaret Smith (IA State cen 1Jan 1925) wife Millie (Millie's maiden name was Bacon) Just recently I made contact with Miles Bacon, her first cousin. He was kind enough to send me a picture of Albert and Millie with a young boy. They had a son born in 1914, but he died in 1916. Millie was very depressed so Albert thought it might help to adopt Earl. Earl told me when I spoke to him on the phone that they were very good to him. (1930 cen) or Willy (1925 state cen) Bacon d/o Miles I Bacon + Ida Maple. Albert was 31 yr first marr, Millie was 26. I do not see any other children for Albert + Millie/Willy. Miles/Ida were in Keokuk IA in 1900 census I can't find Albert, JOhn or Millie in 1900 cen. There is a John H Bond age 50, b 1860 in Bath, Allen Co OH in 1910 census, single, an inmate ????? I havn't found any other info on Earl. There were a couple of marr + divorces in TX..with the right age Earl Bond but nothing to show a connection w ours. This may very well be the same Earl. Peggy thinks he was in Texas at one time, and he was married before he married her mother in Dayton. {The last child was Frederick (called Jack), age 1 year. His Uncle Jim Morgan took him. They may have lived in the Des Moines area.} I find John Morgan and Nannie/Namie (This is Nancy, called Nannie in most of the census records) Her maiden name was Sanchez. Mr. Miles Bacon who still lives in Ottumwa, Iowa has researched this family for years. His father and Millie Bond's father were brothers. (1900+1910 Cen) John Vernal b 1893 (this is the Uncle who adopted Frederick Arnold Bottorff, called Jack. His name was changed to Jack Arnold Morgan, mary M b 1895, Helene Grace b 1897(this is Grace who married Clell Bottorff) Benton Keokuk Co IA, no Jim/James 1920 cen Keokuk IA John D Morgan, wife Nannie, Carl Bottorff son/in/law, Mary M dau, Ruth M grand-dau, Wm B grand-son. Still no Jim Morgan but Carl's age fits to be Clell E Bottorff brother. This is correct. Clell and Carl Bottorff married sisters. 1930 John D Morgan in Hedrick, Keokuk Co IA age, occupation, fits but w wife Alice M. Has Nannie died and Joh marr again? Where is the brother Jim that took /in Jack?? I FOUND him... This is correct. I have done everything except drive to California to try to get a copy of his obit. I think he had a daughter named Marylyn Joyce Davis who died in 1989 in Truckee, Nevada County, California. Her mother's maiden name was Kusonoki which matches the name of the woman Jack Morgan married. The father's surname on Marylyn's death record is Morgan. I have not been able to locate her obit either. Carl Bottorff bro/of Clell b 22Jan1897 Hedrick IA, d Dec 1967 Des Moines , Polk Co IA (SS death index) married c 1916 (1930 cen Staedy Run, Keokuk Co IA) wife Mary M Morgan (Carl and Mary divorced sometime after 1930), issue Ruth (Ruth is dead, but she has 3 living children) M 1917, William B :Billie" 1918 William died during WWII with no children. He was on his way home when he died., Richard 1922 Richard was hit by a truck in Riverside, Ca. and died there.Carl Bottorff married Vada Moore after he divorced Mary Morgan Bottorff. Carl and Vada had one son who lives in Mansfield, Ohio. He is James Arthur Bottorff. Jim has been very helpful to fill in lots of blanks for the Bottorff family.
