You certainly have got the right part of the world. The Ryburn Valley is west of Halifax in the Pennines. Ripponden is a small township in the valley bottom. A few miles further up the valley is Rishworth. Cotttonstones is a hamlet on the valley side, near to both places. Unfortunately, the people you mention do not appear to be connected to my family tree, at least not closely. The whole area seems to be full of Bottomleys and Lumbs, both in the past and now.
