I also had some second cousins named Galyean. If this is the same Friel, he was first married to Nettie Fortner. My father Lonnie Bottomley had an older sister named Bessie who married Kemper Galyean and they had one son - Jim. It is possible we could be related. I believe Friel's father was William Bottomley who came from "somewhere out west" and helped to build a church in Surrey Co, NC right off the parkway. Two churches sit right next to each other because the congregation had a fight and split. Friel is buried in the cemetary there. I've seen his headstone.
