Hi, My name is Valerie Ogborn and I am also descended from William Fletcher Bottoms. I have some very interesting information on William Fletcher Bottoms. I don't know the book this paper was copied from (it was sent to my Mother and she sent a copy to me) but the title of the page is "History of Jack County" page 100. It says: "W.F. Bottoms was born in Tennessee October 5th, 1834; went to Illinois in 1852; married to Latha Jane Boyd, August 16th, 1853. To this union were born: W.H. Bottoms, born January 31st 1857; Rebecca Bottoms, born May 9th 1858; Newton Wesley Bottoms, born April 7th, 1860; George McClelland Bottoms, born October 1st, 1864; Pearl Bottoms, born 1871; Louisa Bottoms, born September 1st, 1874; Paulina Elizabeth Bottoms, born February 7th, 1876. Came to Collin County, Texas in January, 1874; moved to Ross Valley, Jack County Texas in December 1876; lived there for twenty years, then moved to Bryson, Jack County, Texas where he served as a postmaster for eight years. Prior to this he served as deputy sheriff under John D. Rains, sheriff of Jack County, this deputyship was for a term of two years. His wife died in Jack County, Texas, January 21st, 1908. Mr. Bottoms' death occurred at Bryson, Jack County, Texas, in April, 1933. Had he lived till October 5th, 1933, he would have been 99 years old. Mr. Bottoms served the entire four years in the Northern army-had one brother who died in the service of the Northern army- had two brothers who served the entire four years in the Southern Army." This quote may be from one of the these books, I don't know. My line comes from William Fletcher Bottoms' daughter Rebecca. She married John William Morrow. Sincerely, Valerie Ogborn
