Just a few points of clarification on Cousin Ralph's letter. His father is Wm Mansel "Buck" Bottoms. He was my half great uncle. We called him Uncle Buck. He was half brother to my grandfather Thomas Samuel Bottoms. They had the same mother: Mary Catherine Jordan. She was half Indian, her mother was full Indian, Creek I suspect, or possibly Cherokee, and her name was Katherine Leaptrot ( my father told me name was from "leap" and "trot". There are still a few Leaptrot's in GA area. After many years of marriage with many kids, including about 3 sets of twins, Mary's husband John Wesley Bottoms died. These included Ralph's father Mansel. (Mansel had a twin sister, Amanda, who died at early age). She then married John Wesley's nephew, William Henry Bottoms, my great grandfather. She and Wm Henry only had one child: my grandfather Thomas "Sam" Samuel Bottoms. Sam married Loni Mae Hicks, who had two children from a previous relationship(??) with names Addie Bell and boy David. They took the names Bottoms, although I don't know if Sam actually adopted them. Sam and Loni Mae (my grandmother) had two children: John William and Mathis Samuel(my father) All these names are on my personal web site: www.intercom.net/user/bbottoms Also a picture of Wm Henry and wife Mary Catherine with boy Sam. regards bill bottoms -----Original Message----- From: James E Lantrip <JLANTRIP@prodigy.net> To: BOTTOM-L@rootsweb.com <BOTTOM-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, March 18, 2000 10:59 PM Subject: [BOTTOM-L] Bottoms - Jordan >First let me say that when I said Nancy Jordan was an Indian I was mistaken. >I mixed her up with a Mary Catherine Jordan That married a John Bottoms is >Alabama.
