Does anyone know (or can guess) why Nelson BOTTOM(S) went to Illinois and who went with him? 1840 Census Macoupin County Illinois BOTTUMS, Nelson 0000100000000 0001000000000 Some of my BETTIS family left TN and went to Illinois & Indiana around the same time. I have read the 'Handy Book' history on Illinois and was unable to find a reason. Also, I'm still trying to find where / when records for Piety BOTTOMS marriage to Benjamin HILL & who Benjamin's parents were. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated. TIA, Alta
