I've been searching for years for the siblings and parents of William BOTTOM. So far, I've found only sketchy information. William BOTTOM is listed on a land record in Jackson Co., Ala. as being from Amelia Co., VA. I estimate that he was b. ca. 1800-1810. He m. Eliza or Elizabeth BLACKWELL (b. ca. 1814) and their children were born in several states indicating that they probably had itchy feet and had a difficult time settling down! My grandmother believes that Eliza or Elizabeth BLACKWELL was b. in South Carolina, but I've not been able to find her. Their children are as follows: 1. Elender Francis BOTTOM, aka Eleanor and Ella. She was b. 22 Oct. 1832 prbly in Jackson Co. Al. She used her middle name when she m. Hezekiah Littleton LASATER. (Listed incorrectly as Hezekiah F. LASATER on the marr. liscense.) They m. 28 Nov. 1852 in Walnut twp, Lawrence Co., Ark. Elender d. 26 Aug. 1905 in St. Clair Co., MO. and is bur. at Mt. Zion Cem., in same co. 2. Elvira Jane BOTTOM, b. 1835 in N.C. Elvira m. William KENNELL/KINNELL, also on the 28 Nov. 1852 in Walnut, Lawrence Co., Ark. (double wedding) Like her sister, Elvira used her middle name on the wedding lic. Mr. KENNELL OR KINNELL came from Tn. 3. James M. or A. BOTTOM b. ca. 1840 TN. (Where in Tenn?) Is the same James that m. Jennie TENOR on 14 Oct 1883 ? 4. William Manasses BOTTOM b. 1842 in Jackson Co., Ala. He d. in MO., but I don't have any other information. William was living with his sister, Elender, in the 1860 census of Howell Co., MO. He is listed as b. in Tn. 5. George BOTTOM b. ca. 1844 in TN (where?) 6. John B. BOTTOM b. ca. 1846 in Howell Co. MO. John appears on the 1860 census of Howell Co., MO. also living with sister, Elender. In the 1850 census of Lawrence Co., Ark., the last name is spelled as BOTAMS. Which of the BOTTOM(S) of Amelia Co., VA. did William belong to? When Elender had children, she named one son,Jonathan Miles LASATER. (my direct ancestor) . I know that Miles is a name often given to BOTTOM family members, which might be a clue. Can someone help? Lucinda Olsen
