I feel sure that James and Ann are the family that was in Lawrence Co, Ar in 1870. James is living with his mother in Rutherford Co, TN, in 1850 but I could not find him in Rutherford Co or Lawrence Co, AR, in 1860 so he went somehwere. I had not looked in Gibson Co. It would appear to be a second marriage and the two older children were not Ann's. Elizabeth was at home in 1850 but she vanished also. I had assumed she had married but it appears that she both married and moved. I am not supprised that the moved to Gibson Co with your family. I feel very sure that they are all family. I expect that there were other children to John R Bottoms and Nancy Jordon Bottoms that I do not have. John A, 1829; James M, 1833; Mary A, 1838 and Elizabeth, 1842 leave a lot of gaps. On the 1850 census of Rutherford Co, TN, John R is dead, Nancy is listed as "Insane" and is living with her brother David Jordon. James and Elizabeth are living with David, also. John A is "farmed out" with the Pilon/Pllyand family who were cousins. I don't know where Mary was "farmed out". She appears in Lawrence Co and marries David Crittenden Smith in 1859 so she must have gone to Lawrence with John A and his wife. One of Mary's descendants thinks that the Martha Hight who is living with David Jordon was Nancy's daughter. I don't think so. In the marriage record she is listed as a Jordon. I think she was David's own daughter. I suppose she could have used the Jordon name if she were David's ward but I doub't it. With children born in 29, 33, 38 and 42 I expect there were others who were "farmed out" with John R dead and Nancy insane. I would not be supprised if the William and the Nancy E that you wonder about were children. Nancy was named after her mother and her grandmother. How could she have not named a daughter Nancy? Thanks Harvey for all your work. Tom Baird
